About This Course
As telehealth becomes a mainstay for mental health care, clinicians face unique challenges in managing crises remotely while navigating the legal landscape of telemental health. This course equips mental health professionals with essential skills to handle high-risk situations, like suicidality, and to establish a robust crisis management plan from the outset. Participants will learn how to strengthen rapport, set clear crisis protocols, and proactively manage their own liability, ensuring they’re protected while providing safe, responsive care.
In this training, we’ll cover strategies for introducing and revisiting crisis planning throughout the therapeutic process, including special considerations for clients in rural areas with limited local resources. Clinicians will explore effective techniques to support clients in crisis via telehealth, as well as protocols for transitioning clients to more intensive care when necessary. By the end of this course, clinicians will be equipped to confidently address client crises and safeguard their practice, providing secure, reliable support, no matter the distance.
