Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP): An Evidence-Based Structured Treatment for Suicide Prevention
6.0 CREDIT HOURS (
Course Overview:
How do you respond when a client shares suicidal thoughts? Many mental health professionals carry real concerns about whether their interventions are doing enough to reduce risk and support lasting safety. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of preventable death, and clinicians are often among the last points of contact before a crisis, highlighting the critical role effective, evidence-based intervention plays in prevention.
This 6.0 CE credit hour training introduces Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP), a structured, evidence-based model designed to reduce suicidal ideation and behaviors. Participants will learn the core principles and treatment structure of CBT-SP, along with practical strategies that can be integrated into everyday clinical practice with clients at elevated risk.
CBT-SP combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with suicide-specific interventions such as safety planning, addressing suicide-related beliefs, means restriction, and relapse prevention. This training is well-suited for clinicians seeking a clear, research-supported framework to strengthen suicide risk assessment and intervention across a range of clinical settings.
