About This Course

In part I of this two-hour training, participants will learn about the lived experience of LGBTQ+ people, research-supported best practices, and how they can better support the LGBTQ+ community as an active ally. The course begins with discussing sexual orientation and gender identity, including important LGBTQ terminology. Next it will touch on how to create a positive and welcoming environment in your organization or practice. Finally LGBTQ+ allyship best practices will be discussed with specific examples and recommendations.

Part II of the training will take you through the ins and outs of understanding gender pronouns and why they’re important. The presenter will discuss the history of gender pronouns and give examples of the uses of gender-inclusive pronouns. Gender pronoun best practices will be discussed and gender-neutral pronoun practice activities will be provided.
