This training is designed for clinicians seeking a deeper understanding of grief and practical tools for supporting clients through all forms of loss—death and non-death alike.

About the Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) Credential

The Certified Grief Informed Professional credential, offered through Evergreen Certifications, demonstrates specialized competence in grief and loss. It equips professionals with evidence-based strategies for working with grief in diverse populations and across the lifespan.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold (or be working toward) a state or national mental health license or credential. Eligible professions include social workers, counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, creative arts therapists, clergy, graduate students in clinical programs, and related roles.

Certification Steps:

  1. Complete a minimum of 6 hours of grief-focused continuing education (this Elevate CE training meets that requirement).

  2. Submit your application and $99.99 fee to Evergreen Certifications.

  3. Upload your training completion certificate and proof of professional status (license or transcript).

  4. Receive approval from Evergreen Certifications.

Participants who attend this Elevate CE training will receive a free first year of certification through Evergreen Certifications (CGP)—a $99.99 value included with registration.

Why Earn The Grief Informed Professional Credential

Becoming a grief-informed professional enhances your ability to:

  • Understand grief’s emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and spiritual dimensions.

  • Apply leading models of grief and loss in clinical practice.

  • Support clients experiencing varied losses—bereavement, relationship changes, health-related losses, or identity shifts.

  • Integrate grief-informed care principles into trauma, substance use, and family systems work.

  • Communicate your specialized expertise to clients, employers, and colleagues through a respected professional designation.

How the CGP Differs from the Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS)

Evergreen Certifications offers both the Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) and Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS) credentials.

  • CGP is designed for a broad range of professionals—including associate-level and graduate-level clinicians—seeking foundational, evidence-based tools for addressing grief. It requires 6 hours of qualifying training.

    • CGP is ideal for a wide range of mental health professionals seeking specialized grief training that’s meaningful but not overly intensive. With just 6 hours of qualifying education, it’s an accessible way to strengthen your clinical skills, demonstrate grief-informed competence, and show clients you have focused training in supporting loss and healing.

  • CAGCS is an advanced-level certification for independently licensed professionals (master’s degree minimum) who have completed 18 hours of advanced grief training, at least 200 clinical hours with grief clients, and a professional letter of recommendation.

Many professionals begin with the CGP and later pursue the CAGCS for advanced recognition and deeper specialization.
