If you're a social worker in Maryland looking to advance your career by becoming a board approved supervisor, it's essential to understand the requirements set forth by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners (BSWE).
The BSWE has licensure qualification standards, educational standards, and experience requirements to become a registered supervisor in Maryland:
The licensure requirements are that you must have a Maryland LCSW-C or LCSW license (or out of state equivalent license).
Experience requirements are 18 months of experience after you have received your LCSW or LCSW-C license, however, this requirement varies depending on which license you have and how much experience you have prior to when you got your license.
To be sure you meet the licensure and experience criteria, check the Supervision Regulations and the Supervision Registration Application, both available directly from the BSWE website.
Once you know you have met the licensure qualifications AND experience you will next need to make sure you have met the education requirement. This is where Elevate CE has you covered! We offer a comprehensive 12-hour Supervisor Training Course which fulfills the BSWE’s educational requirement for 12 credit hours of continuing education in social work supervision by a Board-authorized sponsor.
