Missouri Social Work License Renewal 2025 CE Requirements

If you're a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Missouri, your next license renewal deadline is coming up on September 30, 2025. Staying current with your continuing education (CE) requirements is essential—not just to maintain your license, but to keep your practice aligned with evolving standards in the field.

At Elevate Continuing Education, we make it easy to stay on track. Below, we’ve outlined everything you need to know to renew your Missouri social work license confidently and on time.

📅 When Is the Missouri Social Work License Renewal Deadline?

Missouri LCSWs and LMSWs must renew their licenses by September 30 of every odd-numbered year—including this year if you're reading this in 2025. Now is the time to review your CE transcript, find any missing hours, and complete your coursework before the rush.

📝 What’s New for the 2024–2025 Renewal Cycle?

There’s good news this cycle: the 15-hour limit on correspondence courses has been waived. That means you have full flexibility in how you complete your 30 required CE hours. Accepted formats include:

  • ✅ Live webinars

  • ✅ On-demand/self-paced online courses

  • ✅ Correspondence/home study programs

  • ✅ Other approved methods outlined by the Missouri licensing board

Keep in mind: While format flexibility has increased, the topic-specific CE requirements still apply.

✅ Required CE Topics for Missouri Social Workers

Every Missouri social worker must complete 30 hours of CE during each two-year cycle, which must include:

  • 3 hours in Ethics

  • 3 hours in Cultural Competency, Diversity, Inclusion, or Cultural Humility

  • 2 hours in Suicide Prevention

  • 22 general CE hours on clinical, professional, or supervisory topics

💡 Tip: If you're in a supervisory or leadership role, CE hours in clinical supervision or administration can count toward your general CE total.

🎓 Accepted CE Course Formats in Missouri

Missouri offers flexibility in how you meet your CE requirements. You can choose from:

  • Live, interactive webinars

  • Self-paced (on-demand) courses

  • Correspondence or home-study programs

  • Any other format that’s board-approved

At Elevate CE, all our trainings are ASWB ACE- and NBCC-approved—so you can trust that they’ll count toward your renewal.

📌 Don’t Overlook These Required CE Topics
